Pamela Hoke Nature Art
My expressionist, contemporary nature art has always been grounded in stylistic representation of a deeper, more sensory-driven and intimate connection with nature. Most of my work emerges as intuitive, sometimes subtle – other times bold – expressions of the powerful movement of energy, the synergy and feelings of the senses engaging in direct experiences with nature.

I primarily immerse myself in the beautiful, organic process of the masters by making my own paints with natural earth paint pigments and walnut oil. I love exploring and creating detailed, moving, sensual strokes with liner brushes with oil, watercolor, or acrylic paints; fine point pencils, charcoal, ink pens or, when necessary, my stylus pen and iPhone. Basically, whatever is on hand during natural moments of inspiration.

Being fully immersed with the natural world ignites my creativity and increases my sense of belonging and overall well-being. Scientific and psychological research validate this inspiring experience of nature amidst an era of climate change and unrest.

Creating art that reconnects and restores the natural senses and sensibilities that our modern lifestyles have taken from us drives my process. My art and designs, nature awareness research and sustainability consulting are all about creating soothing inspiration, a sense of calm and hope for the restoration of harmony and equality between humans, nature and the planet we share.

I aim to communicate life moments from all sensory experiences. I love to express feelings deeper than what is seen, touched, tasted, heard or smelled. The joy for me is to embark into the adventure of communicating through a multi=sensory lens, a language of expression that comes from the innate, natural creative intelligence, that I can only discover from direct experiences from nature, nature’s language.

There is a great sense of freedom, fulfillment and potency in embracing the process of art as an opportunity to go on an adventure, and create something that did not exist beforehand. To me, art is a sensory experience through the lens of one’s soul, a deep story from a unique viewpoint in a universal, ancient language. This is what I attempt to share in my artwork through a surreal approach to composition, deep contrasts, smooth flow of strokes, and expressions of the “personality” of whatever I am drawing or painting. I also work toward sharing this adventure, and deeper life connection and sense of unity with art and nature through my workshops, series, projects, book and any assigned project I receive the privilege of being involved in.

I embrace this freedom fully through art and writing projects that tell a story, that introduces unique viewpoints and a soothing, sensual experience that is welcoming, alluring, refreshing, or presenting a strong point as the passionate advocate for art and nature that I am.  It is why I so love the uniquely soothing, surreal and sensory-aware qualities of artists such as Georgia O’Keefe, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollack, Willem deKooning, and Bob Ross.

Each one of us has our own unique natural creative intelligences, a unique perspective on all of life, with the ability, and the right, to communicate it.   This is why I hold dear to my heart anything that is hand drawn, hand written, hand painted, hand sculpted, hand crafted, body or musical expression.  Nothing can match the direct sensory experience of these forms of human communication. The hands-on aspect challenges the artist to fully expose what is within with merely their being, and in turn the direct sensory experience and connection that occurs from those who get to experience and share in the creative adventure of raw, organic human expression.

If knowing Nature really is knowing love, and love is the freedom to be fully oneself, then painting nature as I sense it, is the ultimate experience of what love is, and what life means to me.
