Description
“Island Moon Cow” is an expression of how I got to know this majestic Highland Cow at Aurora Farms of San Juan Island. It was a calming and powerful experience. Cow energy is profound, especially when one actually takes the time to be near one. Modern times and commercial farming have removed us from the true natural being of that which is nourishment. This nourishment is not just from those who choose cows as nutrient nourishment, yet also for all humans – as cows exude a special aura. The moments spent simply appreciating and sensing the energy from these large, sentient beings can be very educational and enrich our soul – when we show love by simply acknowledging, appreciating silently, and expressing this through our own aura, cows, and all animals, pick up on this positive energy. They also will return it in their own unique way.
The fact that this particular cow was at first apprehensive, which most animals are, just like us, until there is a “sense” that it is safe to be with the being that is approaching. Once he felt my calm, appreciating energy, I was allowed to sit nearby and observe. I ended up spending many quiet, peaceful moments with this cow and many of the cows and sheep on this delightful local farm. A local farm that treats them as gifts, and as beings with a soul. As I ventured into this portrait, I also experienced a fabulous early full moon this past February, and I recall visualizing my moments with this beautiful soul, and how he is experiencing the same full moon.
So here, we are in a place with the serenity of a majestic, beautiful cow, with the gentle, all knowing expression that cows tend to have, and at peace in another magical island full moon – the many full moons we all get to share from wherever we might be. We all share the moon, and we never have to feel alone.
My hope is this portrait gets to reside in a home that senses the calm, all knowing energy of this cow, and the peaceful delights of the beautiful natural delights that all of nature offers…when we open our minds to pause and receive them. This is, my journey as a nature artist, to continue to introduce our vital need to connect with nature as our life source, our teacher, and our nurturer in order to move toward sustainability.
